Lots of monitors are worth a second look, but how many are worth listening to as well? The new 17-inch Sony CPD-220VS sports a three-speaker system consisting of two 3.5-watt speakers, a 10W subwoofer and a three-level Bass Boost to offer surround-like sound. The audio features are complemented by a built-in microphone located at the top center of the bezel, a sound-level indicator and a mute button.
The virtually flat display has a 16-inch viewing area, measures 19 by 18.9 by 16.8 inches and weighs 48.8 pounds. The digital on-screen display includes controls for brightness, contrast, color temperature, horizontal and vertical size/position, pincushion and geometric distortion corrections.
The unit has a tight 0.25mm aperture-grille pitch and supports a maximum resolution of 1280x1024 at 60Hz. It has a horizontal scanning range of 30kHz to 70kHz and a vertical scanning range of 50Hz to 120Hz. The monitor features an Energy Star and VESA DPMS-compliant power management system. A USB port is also included.
