What was life like before sticky notes? For keeping bits of information handy, Post-it Software Notes offers you the electronic equivalent of one of this century's breakthrough inventions. With version 1.5, you can keep the notepad icon right on your Desktop, in the taskbar tray or in both locations, so you'll always have a Post-it handy.
Choose your note's color-solid colors only-yellow, blue, green or pink. (We'd love to see the textured looks, such as cloud and marbling, of 3M's paper Post-its.) In this upgrade, you can automatically insert the date and time onto every new note. Notes can be free-floating on your Desktop, and if you move your mouse over a minimized note, you'll see a preview of its text.
You can organize notes into collections called Memoboards. Right-click on the top area of a note, and an option appears for moving the note to a Memoboard. You can also cascade notes on Memoboards alphabetically or by date and time. Search capabilities, however, are limited.
With 3M's introduction of label-like stock for ink jet and laser printers-sheets of six 3- by 4.5-inch notes you feed into your printer-you can use Post-it Software Notes to create simple routing slips or reminder notes. If you want fancier custom notes, you'll want to use Post-it Notes Design software, included in boxes of Post-it Notes for Ink Jet and Laser Printers.
Installing Post-it Software Notes is a breeze, and online help is useful and succinct. It's easy to find a note, attach an alarm and export notes as text files. As in previous versions, you can send your note as an e-mail text message; the program supports cc:Mail and Microsoft Mail. For information at your fingertips, Post-it Software Notes is as convenient and easy as it gets.
