Sony StorStation
Store While You Snore

Would you back up your data regularly if it were easy to do and you could do it inexpensively? The Sony StorStation tape drive provides one-step backup software, and holds 1GB native and 2GB compressed on a cartridge.

The drive is the same as the Iomega Ditto 2GB. In addition, Sony includes a 2GB external cartridge ($19.95), backup software, CompuServe Sprynet Internet software and Netscape Navigator.

Plug the StorStation into your PC's parallel port. Click on the desktop icon, and the StorStation backs up your hard drive while you work. You can also schedule unattended backups so it works while you don't.

The drive measures 1.6 by 5.4 by 7.6 inches and weighs 20 ounces. It is backward-read compatible with earlier QIC and Travan media.

Because of its size and easy connection, you can carry the drive from office to home to transfer large files.

The StorStation copies disk to tape or tape to disk. It transfers data at 1MB per second with an average backup time of up to 9.5MB per minute.
