I read the article "Get A Feel For ActiveX" (Start, November 1996), and I couldn't agree more with Fred Langa's opinion. ActiveX will be the basis for many program versions to come. But it will not stop there. Technology is advancing at geometric proportions and has already surpassed expectations.
ActiveX is only the beginning of inter-program integration. It makes things easier, less expensive and more compatible. There is already talk of 64-bit processing chips; the serial bus is a likelihood; the local bus architecture will be broadened; faster and more efficient memory, video, disk and other subsystems will be produced. Just think what it might lead to: true artificial intelligence, a sentient computer that thinks for itself and can act on its own.
